A Simple Trip to the Park
As a work at home mom it’s so easy to get caught up in the details of my business that I don’t spend enough time with my son. He can get a touch of cabin fever and I know he’s reached his limit when he starts getting into things that don’t ordinarily interest him. Today was that kind of day. Normally I wisk him off to the mall so he can ride the merry go round, look at the pets in the pet store, we have lunch and of course I can do some shopping. Today I decided to try something different. I created my to do list using my Cool Moon software (see post below), made up my mind to get everything on the list done during my son’s nap time so we could go to the park when he woke up. Mission accomplished!! I finished my work, packed the diaper bag, made lunch for both of us and away we went. Now I should tell you that this was my son’s first trip to the park and he had such a great time. He swung on the swings and I helped him up the stairs so he could come down the slide. Then he continued on with me watching him like an adoring fan. I definitely have to add going to the park with my son to my to do list. Seeing him smile and hearing him laugh reminded me of why I am a work at home mom. I wanted to be HOME with my son but I think I took it a little to literally. I want to make sure I’m there for him during his early development AND still contribute to the family income, but I also wanted to nurture him and show him all the things in this world that make life so beautiful. Like…A simple trip to the park.

When my 14 month old daughter has figured out how to peel off the masking tape that was put there to stop her from getting into my drawers in my desk… I know it’s time for a breather and for a play.
